When we first meet Ellie she is a 14-year-old girl who has never known the "normal" world prior to 2013. Therefore, Joel not only becomes her transporter – but a guide to the wider world. She is precocious, resourceful and capable. Whether it's sharing a good pun or overcoming a crisis, her wit and cleverness prove invaluable.

5 years later, we reunite with Ellie in The Last of Us Part II. She has grown more confident, outspoken and strong. When a traumatic event rattles her and her community, she sets out to seek vengeance. Although she has matured, she must grapple with not only her Infected and human adversaries but also the emotional toll of her actions.

Abby

When we’re introduced to Abby in The Last of Us Part II, she is a leading member of the WLF. Despite her reputation as a formidable fighter, her stoic and imposing presence hides her vulnerability. Previously, she and her father were part of the Fireflies until a tragic incident left Abby on her own. She must now grapple with her identity and find meaning and purpose beyond her need for justice.
